Eurener sponsors the first solar race in South America which will cross the Atacama Chilean desert

segunda, setembro 26th, 2011

Vehículo solar AtacamaFrom September 30th to October 2nd will be held in Chile the first race of solar-powered vehicles in South America known as the “Atacama Solar Challenge”. The tour consists of 933 km under an unforgiving sun as the area has the most solar radiation of the world. The tour will cross four locations beginning in Humberstone, with the first stage in Antofagasta, the second in Calama and finishing in Iquique.

The challenge has two categories; the first is the “Atacama Solar Challenge” which aims to develop cutting-edge photovoltaic technology, with vehicles powered by solar energy. In the second category, “Sun Route”, combines solar and human energy to move the vehicles, which requirement is that they are of low cost and environmentally friendly.

The R&D Dept. from Eurener provided free of charge, through a grant system, photovoltaic cells which meet special requirements for participating teams to incorporate them into prototypes that have been designed exclusively for the event.

The company manages the sponsoring of the race through its business office in Chile, which was created to serve the extensive network of customers is creating and to develop photovoltaic projects mainly for mining and electrical industries.

Eurener reaffirms its commitment to the environment at the 26th edition of the PVSEC (Hamburg, Germany)

Eurener 26 PVSECThe manufacturer of solar photovoltaic modules will have its own stand (B5/A6) in the largest event of manufacturers of solar equipments and components from Europe and a leading worldwide: the 26th edition of the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition to be held in Hamburg (Germany) in September, 5th to 8th. It is expected the participation of 900 exhibitors from around the globe in an area of over 65,000 square meters.

This will be the fourth time participating of Eurener in the PVSEC where they have a space to present, on Tuesday, September 6th at 14:15h, the iIndustry presentation Sustainable improvements on Eurener modules framed in its line of action of corporate social responsibility encouraging socially responsible behaviour developing strategies and establishing internal management procedures, taking into account not only the economic dimension of their actions but also the social and environmental..

The paper starts from the premise that the photovoltaic industry is an inescapable need for economic development and the fight against climate change. Therefore it is imperative that its production cycle must be respectful of the environment through the implementation of several initiatives based on new technologies.

The main measures taken in Eurener are four:

  1. Utilization of industrial roofs to generate clean energy in the factories in Spain and Portugal with the installation of photovoltaic modules that generate electricity for consumption in the productive process itself
  2. Selection of suppliers committed to respecting the environment
  3. Efficient management of waste: devolution of elements from different products once consumed (bovine axes, packaging, reusing of pallets, etc.) and recycling of waste materials (broken cells, samples from Tedlar, glass, aluminium, etc.).
  4. Recycling of modules at the end of its life through the PVcycle association

When the manufacturer sold the product is no longer directly responsible for their use. Instead of this Eurener was associated to PVcycle to ensure that when PV modules reach the end of its useful life are not lost in landfills but are collected and properly recycled to take advantage of all its components even in other industries.

With these four lines of action Eurener achieves the goal of manufacturing modules more efficient and greener and at the same time meets all the requirements for the most prestigious international certifications.

There will also be their last released products fully developed by the R&D Department which among the highlights are solar streetlight EUROPE; the photovoltaic module Perfect 25 power up to 250Wp, +3% positive tolerance and external insurance; the Black Panel, which also fulfil the same technical characteristics as his brother Perfect 25, is specially designed for architectural integration; and the classic but effective PV solar kits grid connected.

Eurener otorga becas alumnos chilenos y abre oficina comercial

Eurener, a Spanish manufacturer of solar photovoltaic modules, sponsors the Atacama Solar Challenge (ASC), the first solar car race in Latin America, a single event also known as Desafío Solar Atacama. It will be held in northern Chile from September 30 to October 2 this year and aims to develop solar technology in Chile and Latin America. It will involve 32 teams from 7 countries that will travel 933 kilometres in the area that receives the highest levels of solar radiation in the world. The competition is divided into two categories: Atacama Solar Challenge, for high-tech vehicles powered only by solar energy, and La Ruta Solar for tricycles powered by solar and human energy.

The company has an agreement of academic research with the University of Chile focused on solar energy. One point is to award scholarships to students participating teams in the ASC who are creating their own cars for the race.

Vanessa Nolasco, Head of R & D, and Luis Catalá, Director of Expansion, travelled to Chile representing Eurener where they could meet the winners of the scholarships for delivery to them the first solar equipment, created specifically outside the usual production line of the factory in Spain due to its specific characteristics. These cells are encapsulated in a special size of 2×3 and 1×4 rows, without tedlar or glass, designed with the aim of achieving maximum efficiency in the surface of the vehicles where they will be installed.

The meeting, held at the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Chile (FCFM) were also invited other teams competing in the high-tech category of the Atacama Solar Challenge. All students had the opportunity to participate in the online conference held with factory located in the Spanish town of Bigastro to ask directly to the technicians who make them, led by Vivien Magro, Head of Quality of the factory, about the operation and use of cells in the prototypes being developed.

The firm already has an office in Chile, from which different photovoltaic projects are being developed for electric and mining industries mainly. This new office is framed in its expansion plans for the Americas, to respond in depth several photovoltaic projects are underway in the region and the extensive network of new customers.
